PE and Sport Premium

Thorpe Acre Infant School aims:

 * to inspire all learners to achieve their potential

* to develop children's knowledge and understanding of the world through an enjoyable and enriched curriculum

* to ensure all pupils feel safe, secure and values

* to build positive partnerships with Parents, Carers and the wider community

* to promote physical and emotional health and well-being for all

From our broader school aims, we use the 8 principles of the whole school approach when planning for the provisions of quality first PE, school sport and fundamental "early" physical activity - namely:

1. Develop and deliver multi-component interventions;

2. Ensure skilled workforce;

3. Engage student force;

4. Create active environments;

5. Offer choice and variety;

6. Embed in curriculum, teaching and learning;

7. Promote active travel;

8. Embed monitoring and evaluations.

NOTE: Not necessarily all of these 'principles' will be actioned upon every year but each will be considered when evaluating at the end of a year and reviewing spending for the next.

Our current targets are:

  • To increase the [%] of children joining in with physical activity throughout the day - with a focus on ‘early’ development of gross motor skills and core strength;

  • To improve access and opportunities for children to experience competitive sport within our curriculum;
